Inside, the clay brick humidifier rests on an antimicrobial Marmoleum® insert (made of linseed oil & jute) in the base of the Grotto. Each Grotto is finished by hand, making it a gorgeous tabletop display for entertaining at larger dinner parties.

The first Cheese Grotto Classico ever made, Bamboo is warm, a little rustic, and right at home in your kitchen. Sturdy and dependable, it set the standard for what a Grotto could be. It doesn’t need to follow trends. It was here first, and it knows it.
What we love about the Grotto Classico Bamboo is the quality of its unfinished bamboo frame. We tested various materials and various bamboos before landing on a very specific three-ply design which is both eco-friendly and non-toxic. This three ply bamboo is three times stronger than solid oak, isn't susceptible to warping, and thrives in humid environments (as a cheese humidor is prone to be). It's a beautiful material to cut and sand, and its unfinished surface is smooth and soft to the touch. The unfinished material is also excellent for at-home cheese aging projects, where breathability and the cultivation of tasty cheese cultures is of utmost priority.

The Grotto Classico Birch is crafted from pre-finished Baltic birch, giving it a smooth surface that arrives ready for your kitchen.
Inside, the clay brick humidifier rests on a naturally antimicrobial Marmoleum insert. Made from bio-based raw materials including linseed oil, wood flour, pine rosin, limestone, and jute, Marmoleum is a climate-positive, non-toxic alternative to vinyl.
These thoughtful details make the Birch easy to clean and maintain. It’s as practical as it is pretty.
