The perfect size wheel for a baked camembert or picnic for one to two, this cheese has a surprisingly long shelf-life, and can be enjoyed as a whole wheel at 4 weeks to 14 weeks, becoming more aromatic, spreadable, and vegetal with time.
Marin French Cheese is the longest operating commercial cheesemaker in the United States, starting in 1865 during the Gold Rush in Marin County. Situated on 700-acre Hicks Valley Ranch, the land is certified organic and dedicated to pasture, crop, and preserving the natural landscape. Since the Great Depression, Marin French Cheese has sourced milk for their cheeses within a 15-mile radius of where they produce, and has carefully blended Jersey, Holstein, Guernsey cow milk for the best expression of their Camembert.
Petite Camembert, Three 4oz wheels - Marin French Cheese uses traditional Camembert cultures when producing their cheese. The result is a young cheese with notes of crème fraiche, cauliflower, and white button mushrooms. An older wheel will have a flavor profile of asparagus, broccoli, and earth brown mushrooms.
