Long Description
Packaged nicely together in one box, this special holiday bundle of our Cheese Grotto Piatto and three Marin French Cheese soft-ripened cheeses will educate and delight the cheese lover in your life! Not only is our award-winning cheese storage *humidor* the best way to store cheese at home, it can even be used to ripen and age whole wheels of brie and camembert to perfection. That's where Marin French Cheese's Petite Camembert, Petite Truffle Brie, and Petite Garlic & Pepper Brie come in: we'll include a printed guide on how to age these cheeses in the Grotto to your preferred stage of ripeness.
The Cheese Grotto Piatto’s breathable back panel and clay brick (which you’ll soak in water), make for a perfect climate for simple, long-term storage of wedges and wheels of cheese in the refrigerator or short-term storage on the kitchen counter.
Birchwood has been traditionally used in cheese preservation for hundreds of years, most notably for shelves in aging caves as its tight surface is slower to absorb and release moisture, making it excellent for long-term storage. The finish on our birch makes it mold and stain resistant, both in the interior and exterior. The architecturally handsome bamboo is extremely resilient, sustainable, and durable over a lifetime (3 x stronger than oak).
We designed the Grotto Piatto – which is collapsible for easy storage - for those with a smaller kitchen. The magnetic panels only require you to align each side of the Grotto properly for them to automatically lock into place - no additional tooling involved!
Marin French Cheese Co.’s collection of 4-oz Petite cheeses are a unique size & shape, perfect for snacking, enjoying solo or sharing with friends. This line of smaller format cheeses originated in the late 1800s to feed hungry dock workers coming into the San Francisco Bay after the Gold Rush and has now grown into a line fit for traditionalists and more modern tastes alike. We're featuring three Petites in their collection:
Petite Camembert uses traditional Camembert cultures when producing their cheese. The result is a young cheese with notes of crème fraiche, cauliflower, and white button mushrooms. An older wheel will have a flavor profile of asparagus, broccoli, and earth brown mushrooms.
Petite Truffle is irresistibly earthy and aromatic. It begins with the same recipe as their classic Triple Crème Brie with the addition of real black truffles imported from France. The rich flavor of the black speckles seen throughout the paste of the truffle cheese is balanced by notes of sweet cream and a decadent, smooth texture.
Petite Garlic & Pepper is the perfect marriage of French tradition and California vision. Inspired by the recipe for a beloved fresh cheese made in France’s Auvergne region, they’ve enhanced their award-winning Triple Crème Brie with garlic and cracked pepper for a decadently savory experience. The rich creamy texture and buttery flavor of the Triple Crème Brie bring a lovely balance to the earthy garlic and spicy pepper.

Serving Suggestions
All three Petites pair well with sparkling white wine, honey, and prosciutto.
Petite Camembert is wonderful with fresh fruit, fig, and apricot jam. It also shines with roasted mushrooms and caramelized onions. A more aged version of this cheese pairs wonderfully with Pinot Noir, or a fruity medium-bodied red wine.
Petite Truffle Brie is also lovely with petite champagne grapes, dry cider, or melted into an omelette or scrambled eggs with a side of roasted potatoes for a decadent brunch. Try a wedge of this brie atop steak.
Petite Garlic & Pepper Brie shines with a bit of sweetness, so pairing it with a Dry Riesling or a light, fruity, floral French cider does wonders. You can also enhance the savory qualities of the cheese with cornichons, olives, asparagus, or carrots. Candied and roasted nuts are a wonderful textural contrast and tart jams like cranberry or cherry cut through the rich, umami notes.
